Of the poets we include in this anthology, only three are mentioned in Poetry Today: A Critical Guide to British Poetry 1960-1995, by Anthony Thwaite: Fred D'Aguiar, Linton Kwesi Johnson, and Tom Leonard; none of them is discussed. Caryl Phillips, who arrived in England from the West Indies before he was a year old, examines the sense of geographical and cultural dislocation deriving from migration. In particular the 1937 halfcrown in brilliant uncirculated condition is considered as rare a coin as the 1943 halfcrown and commands a similar price.
